New York City. A cry in the street outside begins a mysterious relationship between the Brier family--18-year-old Blanche, her younger sister Rose, and their mother Jean--and the street-wise but educated young man who calls himself Bear. After several months of regular visits, the girls still know little about the enigmatic Bear, except that there is a strong determination to right a past wrong. Slowly the girls are drawn into the mystery that surrounds their friend, until it overshadows their day-to-day problems of high school and other relationships. As the action crescendos, Blanche and Rose are confronted with life-threatening dangers and must summon all their courage and faith. A modern mystery novel with an authentic message for today's youth.

First in an Exciting Series for Teens and Adults
Jeff Korman
(Lakeville, MN)
8/31/2010 3:36 PM
The first in a series of suspenseful, romantic, and inspiring adventures by Regina Doman. When Blanche and Rose Brier befriend Bear (Arthur Denniston) they discover many shared interests despite Bear's menacing appearence. Yet, Bear is also cloaked in a mysterious shadow. As Blanche and Rose start to uncover this mystery, they work to free Bear and his brother Fish (Benedict) from the evil that has befallen them and help them reclaim their lives.
A note to parents: read this book before your teenagers do, because once you give it to them, you might have trouble getting it back. Our daughters devoured this book, then started passing it on to friends. The same has happened with each of the five (so far) Fairy Tale Novels by this author.
