Francis de Sales was born in France in 1567. As a young man he received a message telling him to "Leave all and follow Me." He took this as a call to the priesthood.
Francis was a great writer and spiritual director in the district of Chablais. He became Bishop of Geneva at age 35. Together with St. Jane de Chantal, he helped found the Order of the Visitation Sisters. Francis died in 1622 at Lyons, France. He is a Doctor of the Church.
Francis is a patron saint of journalists. His Feast Day is January 24.
