St. Claude de la Colombiere
Claude La Colombiere, third child of the notary Bertrand La Colombiere and Margaret Coindat, was born in 1641 in the Dauphine, southeastern France. He felt a call to religious life from an early age, was ordained a priest, and taught humanities at Avignon. He preached against Jansenism, advocating dedication to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He was the spiritual director of Saint Margaret Mary of Alocoque.
He died in 1682 at Paray-le-Monial, France. His Feast Day is February 15. |
