Blessed Mary Fontanella
|
One of twelve children of the Count of Santena, Mary was born in 1661 at Baldinero, Italy. At age twelve she joined the Cistercians at Saluzza. Unfortunately, Mary's father died soon after, and Mary had to return home to help with the family. Four years later, over the protests of her family, she joined the Carmelites in Turin, Italy. A visionary and mystic, she was the victim of numerous diabolical attacks. She is known as Mary of the Angels because on many occasions she could see angels close by.
Mary died on December 16, 1717. Her Feast Day is December 16.
