Elizabeth Ann Bayley, known to us as Mother Elizabeth Seton, was born in 1774. This is the story of her life. Her mother and her two sisters died when Elizabeth was four years old. When she was twenty years old, she married William Seton. They had five children before his life was taken after a long battle with tuberculosis. In the nineteen years until her own death, she converted to Catholicism, started schools, orphanages in Europe and the United States, and founded the religious community called the Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph. Imprimatur 1960
